NIU/Ball State battle for first in the MACW is an obvious choice for must-see game of the week, but I always includes choices from the Sunbelt & CUSA. Please vote and I’ll be checking in through the week.
Buffalo/Toledo came close to being by MAC option in what should be a high scoring affair tonight. Toledo was up 31-0 at halftime and won 51-41.
Passing: J. Licata (BUFF) – 497 YDS, 4 TD
Rushing: K. Hunt (TOL) – 31 CAR, 186 YDS, 1 TD
Receiving: A. Neutz (BUFF) – 8 REC, 168 YDS, 2 TD
Bowling Green was led by T Greene’s running (149 yards , 2TDs) in a 49-0 rout of Ohio and is now tied with Buffalo for first in the East.
NIU and Ball St were tied in the 4th after aerial shows from their respective QBs, Lynch and Wenning, but it was Lynch’s passing and running and the NIU D who scored 21 unanswered points in the 4Q. In the other matchup Miami (Ohio) took an early lead, but the Durham/Archer running combo and the Flashes D took Kent St to victory.
Tipton rushed for 114 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Central Michigan to a 27-22 win over Western Michigan and Akron edged UMass in Saturday MAC action
Tulsa found a some O, but the Marshall Herd was driven by R.Cato ( 456 YDS, 5 TD, 1 INT) to a 45-34 win to stay even with ECU atop the East.
Blowouts ruled the CUSA on Saturday. ECU, Rice, UTEP, & FAU were the victors over, respectively , UAB, LA Tech, FIU, & USM. Carden threw 5 TDs for ECU while Ross of Rice rushed for 5TDs.
ECU /Marshall game in two weeks will determine the winner of the East.
And, I continue the countdown to Skip Holtz getting axed at La Tech.
The Broadway & McGuire show for ULL was a little too much for an improving Ga St squad which may have found a solid WR in Keith Rucker. Michael Gordon ran for 184 yards and three touchdowns in Ark St win over TX St. ULL has one game lead over Ark St.
S.Bama & Troy were blowout losers in OOC games to respectively, Navy & Ol Miss.
