One game tonight: NIU hosts a weak Western Michigan and Jordan Lynch will continue their undefeated march to another major bowl game. More later in the week. Here’s my final must-see poll of the season.
Bowling Green /Buffalo victor wins the MAC East.
Ark St travels to WKU and needs a win against the improving Hilltoppers to stay in the SunBelt title race.
Carden and ECU Pirates travel to Huntingdon WVA to face Marshall(Cato) for the CUSA East crown.
MAC
Lynch for the Heisman. Yes, I’ll continue to repeat myself. P.J. Fleck helped recruit quarterback Jordan Lynch to Northern Illinois so the first-year Western Michigan coach had to stand there and watch him rush for 321 yards and 3TDs, plus a passing TD in 33-14 NIU win. Bowling Green took care of Buffalo to win the MAC West and will try to derail the Lynch train in the MAC final next week. Akron edged Toledo in the only close contest yesterday. Ball St, Ohio, & C.Michigan had easy wins over , respectively, MiamiO , UMass, and E.Mich.
Sunbelt
Troy became bowl eligible with a 52-28 win over Tx St. Petrino’s WKU Hilltoppers continued their late season improvement with a 34-31 win over Ark St and ULM gave ULL it’s first conference loss. ULL holds a one game lead over Ark St and faces a tough foe , the S. Bama Jags, next week The Metheny to Jones Jags’ connection was too much for Ga St. yesterday.
CUSA
Cato’s Herd easily beat ECU 59-28 and clinched the East which will like ly set up a Marshall/Rice CUSA final if Rice beats Tulane today. FAU beat FIU in the Shula Bowl.
Rice held off Tulane in the closest CUSA contest. S.Miss blew out UAB for it’s first conference win since 2011 behind Mullens’ five TD passes. UTSA, MTSU, & N.Tex cruised by ,respectively, La Tech, Tulsa, & UTEP
I can’t sign off w/o saying (again): Skip Holtz must go for La Tech to flourish. A bowl preview of mid -major squads is in the oven.
